Disney World Tips!!!

I will start posting tips, ASAP!  These are things I heard/learned!  The best tip is to keep your ears open!  You may hear things that aren't public knowledge that will help you have a magical trip!
  • First, contact Becky Lollar, the best Disney Planner ever!  Whether you've been before or you are going for the first time, she can help you plan an awesome trip!
  • Get the meal plan, which Becky will suggest!  It is well worth the money and will save you tons!
  • Make the trip even magical for your kids!  Get extra special gifts that "Mickey" or "Tinkerbell" can bring each day for your kids!  Tinkerbell brought a special gift for each day on our trip and pixie dust was sprinkled around the notes left for the girls!  We had gifts like:  A BIG Pen (Michael's has a Disney dollar spot and I read that some of the characters have a hard time signing autographs with regular size pens.), bubble necklaces, mickey necklaces (avon has cute ones), Disney Tatooes, other jewelry, and even a photo album!  One day, Tinkerbell even left money so they could pick out their own special gift!  The girls loved this and it made them excited for the day!
  • PANCHOS!  I can't say it enough!  We kept them in ziploc bags in the backpack!  We used them every day!  Too many people don't bring them and have to run to buy some.  They aren't very thick and by the time they get one, the kids are wet and cold!
  • Ziploc bags!  We bagged everything important on water rides and when it looked like rain!  Everything stayed dry!
  • Portable Fans!  We found ours at Target for $8!  They are almost $20 at Disney World!  Plus, ours already had ice cold water in them!  The heat down there is nothing that can compare to anywhere else!  Memphis has humidity, but nothing like this!  It dried up 7 pens of ours!  I suggest bringing sharpies!
  • Go to your hotel first!  Most will let you check in early!  :)
  • Get to the parks first thing in the morning!  We rode all of the rides without fast passes in the am.  (We didn't do any "breakfast" meals and it worked out perfect!  We got so many rides in first thing!)
  • Bring a backpack!  You can bring in snacks and drinks!  We started out with frozen water bottles and other each to transport snacks!  We had plenty of snacks left on our meal plan for the end of the week!  The kids thought it was a treat to get lots of ice cream!
  • Order a photopass cd BEFORE your trip!  It saves you roughly $80!  The pictures are very expensive and it is very hard to choose your favorite!  Plus, you don't have to carry around pictures that you order!  We had around 400 - 500 pictures on our cd!  If I knew about the PhotoPass Plus, I would have ordered it!  The Photopass doesn't include meal pictures and ride pictures!  With the plus, it does!
  • Apps for the iphone!  There are tons!  The one I used the most was the Walt Disney World App (when you check into the park, it tells you wait times, gives you maps, tells you where the characters are, etc.)  Walt Disney World Dining App tells you the menus of the restaurants.  Then the WDW Hours App.  The dining app is the only one that costs money and it is well worth it!
  • Stroller for small and semi-big kids!  Our kids normally do not ride in strollers, but we learned the first day how much it helps!  They could ride and we could stay all day!  It helped us let the kids rest without missing anything.  It also held our drinks and backpack, which Jeremy said was a 100 pound backpack!
  • If you drive, drive to Magic Kingdom!  It's free parking and you don't have to ride a crowded bus or wait for one to get there!  I wish we had done this all week!
  • Don't be afraid to go to any parks' guest relations office in the front of the parks!  Disney is very concerned with everyone having the best time!  At Hollywood Studios, we were told that Baylee could ride the Rockin' Roller Coaster, but when we went back to fast pass, they wouldn't let her on.  We wasted our fast pass on that ride and missed Toy Story!  We were upset, because we had to make a choice between the rides!  So, we went and talked to the guest relations and they gave us a fast pass to use anytime that day on any ride!  :)
  • Take LOTS of quarters and pennies!  Mini M&M containers hold quarters!  Each hold $14.00 of quarters.  We only took one full and needed lots more.  Each park and hotel have penny smashes (cost 51 cents) and quarter smashes (cost 1.50) which make a great souvenir!  Also, gift shops sell a book for $7 to hold them.  What an awesome souvenir!
Magic Kingdom Tips:
  •  Jasmine and Aladdin ride the Magic Carpet Ride at 9:30 every morning!  If it is not a Extra Magic Hour Day, the ride is very slow and one parent can go fast pass one of the busier ride!  They walk around the whole ride and say hello before picking a carpet to ride on!
  • The Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square is Air Conditioned!
  • Pecos Bill is one of my favorite fast service restaurants!
  • Storybook Treats in Fantasyland has cheap homemade ice cream!
  • Rapunzel signs autographs on the far left by the entrance.  Her line gets super long!  She starts at 9:00.  Be one of the first ones in her line and you can go immediately to Jasmine's ride after.  You can see all the other classic characters, except Daisy, at Chef Mickey's.  So, you don't have to stay in line.  Magic Kingdom has the longest lines for characters!

Animal Kingdom:
  •  Keep your ears open!  We stood in line between 12:45 & 1:00 to get Chip & Dale's Autographs and we were asked to ride in the 3:00 parade!
  • This is the best place to get autographs!  Has the shortest lines!!  (They mainly have classic characters, so if you book Chef Mickey's, you do not need to stand in line for the characters!)
  • Go immediately to The Safari Ride!  The animals come out in the am when it's cool!
  • To cool off, because Animal Kingdom seems hotter than any other park, sit behind Flame Tree BBQ, they have fans and it's cool.
  • On the way to Harambe Village, look for the last path, called secret path.  Great picture spot and not many people know about this spot!
  • On the Kali River Rapids, you will get wet!  VERY WET!  Stash electronics in ziploc bags and keep your feet above the silver ring.
Epcot:
  •  Go immediately to Soarin' and fast pass it!  If the wait is less than 30 minutes, ride it and then use your fast pass.
  • Nemo and Friends, most of the wait is inside.  It is a cool break for a hot day!  It also has an aquarium after the ride.  My kids loved this!
  • Club Cool has a free soda fountain, bring a cup!
  • In Japan, your child can pick a clam for $15.  They do a whole presentation and your child can take home a beautiful pearl!  My girls loved it!
  • In China, they sell cute umbrellas and will write your name in Chinese if you buy one!
  • Go to a gift shop, China and one other do not sell these, to buy a passport.  This is neat for kids to have a real live one!  They come with stamps for each main place in each country, and they have a Kidscot in each country.  They can get a real country passport stamp and learn their names in each country!    If you do not want to spend $10, you can get a fan for free and have each country stamp it!
  • If you have a Disney Credit Card, go to the front guest relations,  they can set up a private character greeting!  (We forgot and missed out!  This is the only park that does it!)
  • Stay for the fireworks and light show!  Has one of the best!
Hollywood Studios:
  •  Check your app for Toy Story and Rockin' Roller Coaster wait times.  Fast pass the one with the longest wait time!  Both are going to have long lines because they are awesome rides!
  • Fast pass the Rockin' Roller Coaster then go to Tower of Terror and ride it. Go back to Rockin' Roller Coaster.
  • Go to Mickey's hat 30 minutes before parade starts to get a good seat!
  • At the Mickey's hat stage, they do a live show.  When we were there, they did Disney Channel Rocks live every 30 - 45 minutes!  Get a good seat!  The girls loved it!  They sung a song from each of their favorite shows!
  • Look around for the traveling shows while walking around!  We saw Jack Diamond and his ex-wife Derevay!  The girls loved it and it was very entertaining.  They picked Ellee to help with their show.
  • Do the Backlot ride!  They show you how to do a stunt show first.  We were towards the front of the line when they stopped for the next group and Jeremy was picked to volunteer!  So much fun!
